About Jake Seal
Founder and owner of the ORWO group Jake Seal is a British entrepreneur, filmmaker, director, producer and actor. Originally hailing from London, Jake has primarily been a resident in Louisiana since 2015, although he regularly travels around the world in support of his philanthropic, business and research endeavours. He is married to former Miss Australia Jodie Seal, and the couple has four children.
Village Costume & Props is part of the ORWO family and boasts 19,000 square feet of props warehouse space and 15,000 diverse items. The company, based at ORWO Studios, Louisiana, has provided props and set decoration elements to 43 feature shows to date and 67 music videos and commercials in 2024 alone. Some of the props and other items in the company’s vast collection include vintage benches, chests, furniture, collectible toys, garden toys and a reaper armour set.
ORWO Studios is located just 15 minutes from Baton Rouge airport in a tranquil rural setting and offers the perfect place for television and film production. Constantly developing and expanding, the studio has three sound stages, a VFX department, set design and build services, post-production, a 35mm lab, cameras, catering, a large and varied backlot, antebellum backdrops, office space and accommodation. ORWO Studios’ 35mm lab is the only such facility in the world that specialises solely in the production of 35mm motion picture film prints to be used by filmmakers all over the globe.
Jake is a highly respected figure in the entertainment industry; he is well known for deploying advanced production techniques (like virtual sets) and has produced numerous acclaimed films in his career, including Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017), Born to be Blue (2015) and Blaze (2018). Jake has also acted in many movies, including Asylum (2008), Stretch (2014) and Quantum of Solace (2008).
Jake’s main area of expertise lies in advanced VR, AR, stereoscopic 3D, 3D live-action holograms and virtual set technologies. The latter enables production teams to manipulate digital backgrounds, and using this technology, broadcasters and filmmakers can effectively change elements such as the weather, time of day and location so that on-screen actors can be ‘placed’ anywhere as required.
Jake Seal’s expertise and passion for his craft have made him a popular speaker and educator in much demand at esteemed establishments around the globe, including Canada’s Canadore College and the CERN institute in Switzerland. His talks are designed to enthuse and inspire aspiring filmmakers and technologists with his wide-ranging experiences and treasure trove of knowledge, encouraging the next generation of trailblazers within the industry.
